Sacred Heart of Jesus church
It's worth the walk to see the highest church of Cuba with its 50-meter tower. Locally known as Iglesia Reina (Queen Church), this Catholic church in authentic Gothic style and built in marble, is known for its magnificent stained glass windows and impressive light games, especially in the morning light.
Address: Avenida Simon Bolivar, between Gervasio and Padre Varela. Havana Center

Santo Ángel Custodio church
This church was built on one of the few hills of the city, called Peña, in 1689 by the Jesuits. The hurricane of 1846 destroyed its tower and the whole of the front and back of the nave were destroyed. They were rebuilt and notably altered in the peculiar gothic style that can be seen today.
The history of this church records the christening of two of the greatest Cuban personalities: Félix Varela and José Martí. At the church entrance there is a bust of the Cuban writer Cirilo Villaverde who used this church as setting for the last chapter of his novel Cecilia Valdés.

La Guarida paladar
Paladar got famous because of the movie “Fresa y Chocolate" directed by Cuba best-known director, Tomas Gutierrez Alea and the only cuban movie receiving an Oscar nomination was shot here. It is also the only restaurant in Cuba listed in “Where chefs eat” 2013.
That is likely the reason why the owners decided to overprice it all. Excellent food, regular wines (not listed on the menu but a average wine will cost you 5.00CUC a glass) and New York prices.
Address: Concordia 418, between Gervasio and Escobar. Havana Center

La Divina Pastora restaurant
La Divina Pastora has an exceptional setting, just behind a battery of huge guns, near the sea and overlooking Old Havana. However you will be paying for this setting, and more still if you sit inside. The food is not bad for Cuban standards. Service varies, one day very professional the next not so. A bit pricey, but still worth a visit.
Address: Parque Histórico Morro y Cabaña, Carretera de La Cabaña. Casablanca

El Floridita Bar Restaurant
Rum is consumed lavishly in Cuba; piña colada, mojito, daiquiri... Nowhere is this last mentioned drink as good as in El Floridita, where Hemingway was a regular customer. Hence, the statue of Hemingway at the corner of the bar, his favorite spot.
El Floridita claims to be the cradle of the daiquiri, and indeed, the daiquiris served in La Floridita are spectacular. But is was Hemingway with his famous quote “My mojito in La Bodeguita, my daiquiri in El Floridita.” Who made the daiquiri popular in the 1930s".
The bar has a marvellous deco interior and usually a life band playing Cuban music.
Address: just off Parque Central, corner Monserrate and Obispo
