Bailén beach
A few kilometers further west, near Sábalo, at the beaches of Bailen. Another turn off leads south eight kilometers to Playa Bailen. Not really worth a visit, except if you are interested in crocodiles, as on your way there you will pass the Estación Biológica Zoocriadero, a crocodile farm (Open: Monday to Sunday, 8:00am to 5:00pm).

Boca de Galafre beach
This beach on the south coast of the island is about 15 kilometers southwest of San Juan y Martinez. Not one of those idyllic white sandy beaches, it is rather muddy, still very popular among the locals. So, if you want to get away from mass tourism and spend a relaxed day at the beach like any other Cuban, this is your spot!

Spa San Diego de los Baños
It is located in the town of San Diego de los Baños to the North of the municipality of Los Palacios in Pinar del Río. In this resort, you can enjoy from its hot springs, a nice relaxing massage or a good treatment of mud.

Rock Climbing in Pinar del Río/Viñales
The province of Pinar del Río, and in particular the Viñales valley is a paradise rock climbers. The limestone faces and the impressive crags called ‘mogotes’ by the locals are definitely a challenge even for the most experienced climbers, and the view once on top is absolutely stunning.
Your hosts in the casas particulares will be able to get you in touch with a local who can take you into the hill and up.

San Rosendo´s Cathedral
The city's cathedral is an example of the typical architecture of Cuba´s inland towns. Built beginning 1900s it was consagrated as cathedral in 1914. In order to see the inside you can walk in using the side door, but you can also attend to mass during Sunday´s service.

El Bacanal restaurant
The meals, prepared with red wine and mushrooms, are unique in the province. It is worth trying their tasty filet mignon Napoleon or any of their beef dishes. The staff is very friendly, but you must have patience; the food is prepared to order and it can sometimes take over an hour. Their prices range from 5.00CUC and 10.00CUC.
